Chiara Bassi was born on May 8, 1985, in Faenza (RA). Already an AIS Sommelier, she chose to give her passions and her work an academic background and in 2022 she graduated with honors in Gastronomy Sciences, Culture, and Policies, then went on to specialize in food and wine journalism at Luiss Guido Carli (Rome).
Today, she is studying Product Design for her master's degree at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts (Milan).
A digital nomad, she wrote about wine and food on her blog Perlage Suite from October 2014 to December 2022. In January 2023, she founded the online newspaper Sommelier Suite, dedicated to sommeliers and Ho.Re.Ca. operators from all over the world, with a focus on education, events, and experiences, of which she is the editorial director and author.
In April 2017, she was awarded by Millésima in Bordeaux as the best wine blogger in Europe in the food and wine pairing category. In November 2018, she published Come diventare Sommelier (How to Become a Sommelier), an Amazon bestseller now in its fourth Italian edition and first English edition.
In September 2021, her first novel, Lo spumante di Leonardo (Leonardo's Sparkling Wine, 2020), won the special prize at the 20th edition of the Go Wine Association's national competition “Bere il territorio” (Drinking the Territory).
A Europeanist, liberal, and aesthete, he loves Franco Battiato, John Coltrane, Gustav Klimt, Santiago Calatrava, and industrial design with a touch of Wabi Sabi. He lives in Milan with his fox terrier Paco and many species of rare orchids.
